Angel Sister is a historical fiction novel. Historical fiction takes place in history, but the actual plot isn't true. This book takes place during the Great Depression in the 1930's. Although the background for the book is based off of Ann Gabhart's mom and her three aunts' experiences growing up during that time period in Kentucky, Kate is not a real person. Both the Merritt family and the Reece family are fictional, as well as the town of Rosey Corner itself. The story of Lorena also did not actually occur. Due to all of this, Angel Sister is classified as a historical fiction novel.
